Nov. 6, 2007

Today was quite the busy day. I was up at around 8 reading the paper. I then had to run into work for an hour to work with a patient. Then, it was off to the bank, make some phone calls to try and complete my loan consolidation, which is taking entirely too long, then a run at Ridley creek. The run was pretty good. It was cool outside, but my breathing was better today. aCtually the biggest problem was the fact that my legs felt like crap today. It could be due to the fact that there is a HUGE hill at the start of the run which wiped me out. Anyway, I was pleased overall. I only had to walk once, which is not too bad and even then only for a short time. Then it was a quick shower and back to work for 4 hours which flew by because it was very busy at work. Again, I was at the "bigger" office so I really enjoyed my shift tonight. Tomorrow I am back in the "smaller" clinic so I'm sure the day will be terrible. oh well. I'm sure i'll survive. Okay, i'm getting in a pissed off mood so I am going to get going to bed.

Nov. 5, 2007

Today was an interesting day. I had a full day at work today, 7 AM - 6 PM. Normally, I don't look forward to those days because they are so long, however today was actually a lot of fun because I got to spend the afternoon part of my day in our "bigger" office that is located closer to home. I enjoy my time there so much, and really learn a lot there. It really is a shame, because I work primarily at the other, much smaller office that is farther from my house. It is not the distance that makes me not like it there. We really don't have that many patients and my boss there does not teach / talk to me at all. All he does is write inter-office messages to me to correct things, instead of talking / teaching / showing me. It's very frustrating. Some people think I am crazy, because it is very easy out there, but I had this thought today when I was running: I did not go to school for 7 years to sit around and do nothing. I went to school to learn and do something I really enjoy doing. At our "bigger" office, I get to do that, which is why I think I enjoy it so much. This week is not to bad as I am working Tues/Thursday at our office close to home, so I only have 2 more days in the other one. I keep hoping that it will get better every day, and every day it is the same thing over and over again. I don't know what to do. I guess i'll just have to tough it out for a year or so and then see what to do. But then I think about how important this first few years are after school and how they shape the kind of professional you will be and I get scared. I can tell my manager in the office closer to home who is a friend of mine gets very upset when he hears about this and he does not want me to leave, so we'll see what happens.

Anyway, I went running tonight for the first time in a few days. I have definitely been slacking! It felt very good to get out there again. I started out doing this 3 mile loop that I enjoy doing when it is dark out because not to many cars drive on these streets and it is very quiet. However, once I finished that, I felt pretty good and enjoyed being outside so much I did an extra 2 mile jog + a little bit of walking. I felt pretty good. My legs are a little weak, I am a little overweight compared to my ideal running weight and my lungs aren't where they need to be, but all of this is to be expected having not really run for the past few months. I will have to try and become more dedicated with it, and as my free time increases, I believe I will.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. Have to go to the bank, write some bills, call some people and then head off to work. Not looking forward to it. On that note, have to get some sleep. Goodnight.

First post

As I sit here fighting with my girlfriend over how to do this, I realize that I have NEVER read a blog so I am not to sure what I am actually supposed to write. Anyway, as far as my training, I currently have about a year to go and I will need every day of that year. I have only been able to run twice this week, and am only currently doing about three miles. For some odd reason, I run better on a treadmill so I am thinking about joining Gold's Gym so that I can have access to the treadmills and also do some weight lifting to get better upper body strength for the run. So I have to think about that, but I have not had too much time because I had been studying for my physical therapy licensure exam, which I ended up doing really well on and been working 6 days a week. Hopefully now, my schedule will calm down a bit, but I doubt it. That's all for tonight. Troy is on TV tonight and I want to lay down and watch it.
